Is The Dentist Office Safe?

June 17, 2020

Most dental practices did not remain open during the Covid-19 shutdowns. However, Lakeside Center for Implant Dentistry is an urgent and emergent care provider and has continued to handle patients needing urgent consultations and surgeries. As such, we are equipped and ready to transition back into regular patient visits as Michigan reopens dental offices.

First, the CDC issued a report in late May stating that clusters of healthcare personnel have indeed tested positive for Covid-19 in hospital and extended care facilities but to date, no reports of infection have been found in any dental settings. For well over 20 years Lakeside has practiced CDC standard universal precautions. We adopted all of the hygienic nuances Covid19 requires for Infection control measures. Essentially, we behave as if every patient treated is potentially contagious.

Patients are protected at our office with things like temperature screening, social distancing and enhanced procedures and equipment such as:

  • Appointments spaced to avoid crowding receiving and check out areas.
  • Temperature scanning prior to entry.
  • Limits on how many people can accompany a patient.
  • The latest PPE equipped tools and uniforms for our dental care team.
  • Post patient visit disinfectant cleaning process for exam rooms.

Remember, regular dental visits are an essential part of your overall health. Now is the time to reschedule your cancelled checkups or procedures with Lakeside. We will make certain your visit is safe and comfortable.
