Mini implants are essentially much thinner titanium diameter posts than conventional implants. With the technology of mini dental implants, patients can receive newer, faster, minimally invasive treatments that require a far less healing time than conventional implants. Mini dental implants can also be used when bone is minimal, interdental space is insufficient, and/or when medically compromised patients have poor healing capability.
Dental implants can replace one, several, or all your teeth. They can be used in place of bridges or dentures. Good candidates for this procedure have healthy gums and are old enough so that their jawbone has stopped growing. These candidates should also have enough bone to support and anchor the implants. Dental patients who do not make good candidates for implants typically have a history of poor oral health and have underlying conditions that would make healing after the implant surgery difficult or unusually slow.
One of the greatest benefits of dental implants is that they behave like natural teeth, providing a strength and function that is unrivaled by other restorations. Because the dental implant itself is anchored firmly in your jawbone, much like a natural root, it gives the false, replacement implant tooth stability.
Studies have shown that there is a 90% and 95% success rate for mini implants which is excellent performance in terms of normal dental and medical procedures.
Most dental insurance plans cover 50% of the cost of the dental implant up to your maximum annual amount. Premium dental insurance plans cover as much as 80% of the dental implant cost. Some Medicare dental insurance plans do cover a portion of a dental implant or tooth implant. The average cost for a mini dental implant can be in the region of $500-$1500 which is inexpensive when compared to traditional implants that would normally cost between $4000-$5000.
Studies have shown that mini dental implants have been demonstrated to have high success rates of 92.1%. In general, mini dental implants last the same amount of time as conventional dental implants in the right candidate when good oral hygiene is practiced.
Brushing and flossing daily is mandatory. One can use an extra soft-bristled toothbrush if the gums are more sensitive after the procedure. Regular dental checkups and cleanings to maintain the health of your mini dental implants and the rest of the teeth are important to maintain oral health.
A mini dental implant is typically about half the size of a traditional dental implant, which means that they are easier and less painful to install, and they also do not require the same amount of jawbone mass that traditional dental implants require.
